Course Description
This course is designed to introduce ethics in psychology and mainly ethical principles applied in psychological and laboratory research. During this course, students will establish a working understanding on how to handle data while maintaining secrecy and confidentiality. Criteria and principles for good research practices, research integrity along with the meaning of scientific misconduct and research fraud, cases and procedures for establishing misconduct, preventions, and sanctions will also be discussed. In addition, responsibility for research and the results and consequences of research will be explored while the limits of responsibility, the risks and the precautionary principles will be set down. Also, American Psychological Association Ethical Code of Conduct for conducting research with human and animals and the Helsinki Declaration will be examined in detail.
