Course Description

In this course students will explore the power of the situation and how even the mere presence of another can change who we are. Students will have the opportunity to examine what we bring to situations and how our attitudes color our perceptions and thoughts are influenced by the situation. During this course, culture will be included as a topic to detect existing variations across cultures and cross-cultural universals. This course will seek the answer of the question “do all people feel emotion, experience gender, express prejudice, behave aggressively, or understand fairness in the same way?”. The cannon of classic research and theory will examine contemporary 'cutting-edge' perspectives by incorporating theories of group development, leadership, roles, communication, power of negotiation and consensus, compromise and conflict.
