Course Description
In this course, the aim is to introduce the morphological and syntactic structures of English; simple, compound and complex structures of sentences; the concepts such as tense, mood, aspect, voice and the aim is also to study how these can be used appropriately in diverse contexts. To this end, course participants learn how to conduct language analysis on a variety of texts, including authentic materials, so as to be able to prepare structural and functional aspects of English for language focus sessions. Further to this, awareness of variations in the use of structures in different genres and varieties of English is heightened through the reflective use of several corpora.
