Course Description
In this course, students learn about the characteristics of educational leadership and how these characteristics can be used in school management. They learn that a school administrator should have roles beyond classic leadership behaviors, including coordination, problem-solving, teacher management and development, teacher evaluation, instructional management and support, resource management, and quality control. The instructional leadership behavioral dimensions include: defining the school's vision and mission, defining and sharing the school's goals, supervising, evaluating, and making recommendations on instruction, coordinating educational programs, monitoring school performance and student development, developing a positive learning climate, making good use of teaching time, motivating teachers, achieving and monitoring academic success, encouraging students to learn, and rewarding student achievement.
