Course Description

This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of the foundations of the operations function in both manufacturing and services. The course will analyze operations from both the strategic and operational perspectives and highlight the competitive advantages that operations can provide for the organization. This course introduces students to the concepts underlying effective operation and control of manufacturing and service businesses. It states approaches to production control, inventory policy, facilities planning, methods improvement and technological assessment decision-making, capacity planning, aggregate planning, forecasting, inventory management, distribution planning, materials requirements planning (MRP), project management and quality control with aided computer soft wares are studied.
