Course Description

This course primarily aims to enable students to learn the basic concepts in biostatistics. Organizing data sets, displaying frequency tables, their interpretation and representation with graphics, calculating and interpreting measures of central tendency and dispersion in SPSS program are among the topics of the course. An important part of the course is to understand the basics of probability and probability distributions, to make probability calculations using the standard normal distribution table, to learn the applications of normal distribution, standard z-score and t-scores in dentistry. The students will realize sampling methods, sampling distribution and standard error. It is among the objectives of this course that basic analyzes of these topics can be made on dentistry-specific examples, the results can be interpreted in dentistry, in statistical perspective.
