Course Description

Clinical Pharmacology promotes the rational use of medications in humans by studying their restorative effect to amplify the drug's effect and reduce the side effects. The course aims to bridge the gap between science and the practice of medicine through innovative research, development, and regulation of medications. The content of the course includes the interaction between drugs and humans, drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, pharmacometrics, pharmacogenomics, bioavailability and bioequivalence, clinical pharmacology practice in the outpatient and inpatient settings, human toxicology, drug interactions, clinical drug trials, basic rules of rational drug use, clinical studies, phase studies, ethical principles in clinical research, learning to write prescriptions and principles of "Good Clinical Practice” are included in the scope of the course.

Program Outcomes

  1. P01 The students graduating from the program of dentistry will be able to describe the human body systems and functions and relations to the dentofacial system, recognize pathological conditions, list the preventive measures and express clearly their necessity and importance and act as competent, creative, and ethical practitioners who communicate effectively and view the human organism as an integrated whole.
