Course Description
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to dental ethics, professional deontology, and the legal responsibilities of dental practitioners. Students examine the principles of malpractice, clinical complications, informed consent, professional liability, and patient rights within contemporary healthcare systems. The course also explores research ethics, including the Nuremberg Code, Helsinki Declaration, Belmont Report, Institutional Review Board procedures, and ethical conduct in clinical research. Historical developments in medicine and dentistry, professional ethical codes, doctor–patient relationships, organ transplantation ethics, and stem cell applications are discussed. Through case-based learning, students develop ethical reasoning, legal awareness, and professional decision-making skills required for safe and responsible dental practice.

- P01 The students graduating from the program of dentistry will be able to describe the human body systems and functions and relations to the dentofacial system, recognize pathological conditions, list the preventive measures and express clearly their necessity and importance and act as competent, creative, and ethical practitioners who communicate effectively and view the human organism as an integrated whole.
