Course Description
This course provides a systematic study of the software development lifecycle and the process models that structure it. Topics include the classical waterfall and V-models, incremental and iterative development, spiral and risk-driven models, prototyping, the Rational Unified Process, agile methods such as Scrum, Kanban and Extreme Programming, and hybrid process approaches. The course examines lifecycle activities including requirements elicitation, architectural and detailed design, implementation, verification and validation, deployment, and maintenance and evolution. Process assessment and improvement frameworks such as CMMI and ISO/IEC standards, together with effort estimation, risk management, and process metrics, are also studied. Students critically compare process models and select appropriate lifecycles for given project contexts.
