Course Description
This doctoral-level course examines the intersection of rhetorical theory and contemporary media studies. Students will explore foundational classical frameworks alongside modern trajectories, including digital, visual, feminist, and queer rhetorics. The curriculum investigates how symbolic action, algorithmic mediation, publics, and emotion shape communication in a networked world. Special emphasis is placed on science communication and global rhetorical perspectives. Through weekly seminars, peer reviews, and an intensive final research project, PhD candidates will develop advanced critical methodologies to analyze multimodal discourse and contemporary media representations, preparing them to contribute original scholarship to the field.
