Course Description

The course discusses contemporary issues and challenges that confront formal education in school settings. The role and functions of the school psychologists in assessment, prevention, and intervention is studied. Current educational issues and the influential legislation, impact of cultural and linguistic diversity that the school psychologist has to effectively deal with are discussed. The students’ adjustment problems are highly evaluated within an understanding of adolescence period’s emotional, psychological and physical effects on an individual. School psychology course studies individual behavior within the school context and analyze every single factor that have possible influence on the behavior. It is an elective course for students who are interested in psychological dimension in education.

  1. 01 1.Defining (2) of the problems that children can have in school, to comprehend the necessity of special education for children and family.
  2. 02 2.Students will be able to express (3) problems that will be reflected in the school environment, create emotional problems, learning difficulties, hyperactivity and intelligence problems.
  3. 03 3.Applying (4) the interventions to solve the problem such as preparing educational programs related to the problems mentioned in learning output 2 or directing to related institutions when necessary and providing school-family coordination.
