Course Description
This is a non-credit course. The widening of students perspective and awareness of topic of interest to civil engineers through seminar offered by faculty, guest speakers and graduate students. The aim of this course is twofold: Firstly, to allow the student to make progress on research in a structured way and to help fulfill program requirements, and secondly, to present professionalization information crucial to success in the field. The prerequisites for enrollment are two: Firstly, graduate standing (you must be enrolled either as a PhD or MSc student) and secondly, the presentation to the instructor at the first meeting of a draft of a research paper. The course is organized largely around working on the research paper, with the goal of making it a conference-presentable and journal-publishable work. Topics covered include areas such as structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, hydrology, material and construction management.
