Course Description
Along with a supervisor, students will choose an area of study in biotechnology and conduct heavy literature research and write up a research proposal based on the scientific method, in preparation for their lab-based research project. Students will defend their research proposals in front of a preliminary jury and upon a successful defense, start their laboratory research. If approved by the mentor, students can defend their proposal earlier in the semester and begin lab work. Students will also present their data during seminars on a biweekly basis. Students will statistically analyze their findings and write-up their theses which includes an extensive literature review, critical analyses and discussion of their data, limitations and future directions. Afterwards, students will defend their theses in front of a jury.
