Course Description
The aim of the course is to introduce students the use of typography in graphic design, look closely at the anatomy of letterforms, describe and classify type, describe various classifications of letter forms, outline the history of letter forms, use basic typographic terminology, use techniques to ensure legibility, typeset and create basic page layouts and also to have better understanding of typography principles by work with words and paragraphs, design posters and publications with relevant software. Studies the history of letterforms and typefaces and examines their uses in contemporary communications media. Emphasizes applications to specific design problems. Includes identification and specification of type and uses current technologies for copy fitting and hands-on typesetting problems.
