Ders Açıklaması
Bu ders, derinden bölünmüş toplumlarda siyaseti incelerken özellikle bu toplumların bölünmüşlük halinde nasıl yönetilebildiklerine ve barışçıl bir siyaseti nasıl sürdürebildiklerine odaklanır. Derinden bölünmüş toplumların siyasetinde öne çıkan özellikler istikrarsızlık ve süregelen iç çatışmadır. Bazı derinden bölünmüş toplumlarda ise rakip gruplar arasında güç-paylaşımı yoluyla barışçıl siyaset sürdürülebilmektedir. Bu ders; etnik çatışma, üçüncü taraflarca girişilen arabuluculuk etkinlikleri, barış koruma, barış inşası ve ayrıca güç-paylaşımı teorisi literatürlerinden yararlanarak şu sorulara cevap arar: Bölünmüş toplumlarda siyaseti zor ve istikrarsız kılan nedir? Bu toplumlarda çatışmaya çözüm aranırken başlıca hangi yaklaşımlar kullanılır? Üçüncü taraflar barışçıl çözümlere ulaşılmasını sağlamak içinne gibi roller üstlenebilir?

- L01 The course surveys the literatures on ethnic conflict, third party peacemaking, peacekeeping and peacebuilding as well as the power-sharing theory to elicit answers to the following questions: What makes the politics of deeply divided societies so fractious and unstable? What are the main approaches to manage conflict in such societies? What roles can third party actors assume in bringing about peaceful settlements?
